International crude oil price climbed up to its highest monthly record at USD82.55 per barrel in early August. Being impacted by the weak economic figures of the U.S.A. and the high stock level of crude oil, oil price slid 13.05% after a short period of rise.

 

Though the oil price kept declining in the middle of August, prime plastic materials were not affected at all and remained stable. While the price of imported prime materials was slightly increased, the price of domestic prime grades varied. Engineering plastics price rose slightly, while commodity plastics price either decreased a bit or remained steady.

 

After several packaging factories in Foshan, Guangdong Province were discovered using plastic scraps to produce disposable food containers, it caught the attention of the government authorities, which immediate investigation was conducted and some illegal factories were suspended. Luckily, this incident did not cause any severe impact to the whole industry. Though the plastic scrap market was more active in August when compared with July, price remained stable.

 

Compared to 31st July, price for prime materials as at 31st August : PP-USD1365(↑), LDPE-USD1415(↑), HDPE-USD1300(↑), HIPS-USD1431(↑), GPPS-USD1250(↑), ABS-USD1980(↑), SM-USD1118(↑).

 

Polyolefins scraps: HDPE natural film scrap from production-USD780(↑), LDPE natural production film-USD850(↑),  PP natural production film-USD950(↑), LDPE 98/02 film in northern China- USD630(↑), in the southern China-USD520-530(↑), PP Grade A natural lump-USD1100(↑).

 

Styrenes scraps: ABS mix colour regrind-USD1000(↑), HIPS mix colour regrind-USD600(↑), GPPS natural regrind from CD boxes-USD950(↑), K-resin hanger-USD980(≒), EPS lump from fish industry-USD580 (↑).

 

Engineering plastic scraps: PA mix colour regrind-USD1000(≒), POM mix colour regrind-USD650(↑), PBT mix colour regrind-USD800(≒), PC/ABS mix colour regrind-USD680(≒),  PMMA casting grade off cut-USD1150(≒).

PET scraps: PET natural blister-USD820(↑). PET natural perform-USD850(≒), PET white fleece-USD520-530(≒), PET natural lump-USD630-650(≒).

PVC scraps: PVC natural blister-USD780(≒), PVC mix colour flexible off cut-USD550(≒), PVC car foam-USD620(≒).
