Something about FKTM-April

In April, oil price remained high. Benchmark oil added 38 cents Friday, settling at $104.93 in the New York, whilst Brent crude fell 9 cents to finish at $119.83 per barrel in London. Traders turned aside concerns over European debt and slower-than-expected growth in U.S. first quarter gross domestic product.

The PTA market has been asleep before the 5.1. labor day (ie. Slow transaction with a very small fluctuation on pricing). There was no clear direction for PTA that caused its price drop to RMB8500 last week and it has remained weak. In addition to the high stock level of PET, it seemed that there is no supporting point for the price to go upward. Approaching 5.1. labor day, without the financial support, the transaction for PET has been slowed down as well. Traditional peak season for textile industry has gone for six months and the sales orders for the latter year is not optimistic.

Compared to 30th March, price for prime materials as at 30th April: PP – USD 1555（↑USD30）；LDPE – USD1525（↑USD25）；HDPE – USD 1470（≒）；HIPS – USD 1810（↓USD11）；GPPS – USD 1505（↑USD 73）；ABS – USD 2120（↓USD 15）；SM – USD 1475（↑USD 20）。

Polyolefins scrap: HDPE natural film scrap from production USD 880 (≒), LDPE natural film from production USD 810 (≒), PP natural film scrap from production USD 960 (≒), PE98/02 film in the northern China USD 580 (↑USD30), in the southern China USD 550 (↑USD20), PP Grade A natural lumps USD 1100 (≒).

Styrenes scrap: ABS mix color regrind USD 1200 (≒), HIPS mix color regrind USD 650 (≒), GPPS natural CD cases shredded USD 1080 (↓USD20), K-resin hangers USD 1130 (↑USD50), EPS lump from fish market about USD 680 (≒).

Engineering scrap: PA mix color regrind about USD 1000 (≒), POM mix color regrind about USD 760 (≒), PBT mix color regrind about USD 1000 (≒), PC/ABS mixed color regrind USD 870 (↑USD30), PMMA casting grade off-cut USD 1150 (≒), PC regrinds from water bottles USD 2080 (↑USD30), PVB natural off-cut (monolayer) USD 2400 (≒).
